Speak your mind.

“Don’t be afraid to speak up and speak your mind. You are unique and so is your thinking and you are entitled to voice your ideas and opinions. Other people may not agree or even like what you have to say but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t think your thoughts or speak your mind and it doesn’t mean that you are wrong, it simply means that you are different you are unique but here’s the thing – we are all different, nobody is the same and nor should we be. Don’t hide from it. Embrace it.  In fact the one thing that every single person on this planet has in common is that we are all different”

This is most definitely a lesson I had to learn the hard way growing up. I think like most people we are taught rules and regulations and that there is a certain way of doing things and what is deemed acceptable or not. This can most certainly affect ones own ability to be creative and to think for yourself. We learn from our families and environment as well as from the general world around us and quite often we are taught not to ask difficult questions, to maintain the status quo and not rock the boat, but sometimes the boat needs rocking.

We all live in a world where more and more people are suffering from mental health problems and I believe a huge part of that is that people do not feel able to freely and fully express themselves. This may be in part due to censorship but also for fear that they will be belittled and undermined.

There are so many unfortunate negative stereotypes that really have held the human race back and prevents us from living emotionally happy and fulfilled lives.

For years men have been taught not to show their feelings or emotions because it is a sign of weakness and women have been taught that if they show their feelings they are neurotic and unstable, or if they are able to express their needs and desires that they are trying to be a man or are just a bitch which is ridiculous.

But here’s the thing, we are not all the same (thankfully) we do not all think or believe the same things, we all have a different opinion and it is not for anybody else to judge you or to say that you are right or wrong. We are entitled to our thoughts and beliefs without fear of reprisals.

Being different and unique is what makes the world go around, its what makes writers, artists etc interesting. It is not in our DNA to be identical, we are supposed to be different so embrace your difference, speak your mind regardless of how other people may react and know that if they have a problem with what you have to say that its their problem and not yours.

You don’t have to like everything that other people say and likewise they do not have to like what you say but as long as you stay true to yourself and are not hurting anyone then don’t feel afraid. If you have something to say then speak it, get it off your chest, don’t bottle it up and let it fester because that will only have a negative effect on your health and wellbeing.

We live in a world that is dominated by technology which is an amazing vessel with which to share our thoughts and ideas, if it wasn’t for technology you wouldn’t be reading this right now.

You are unique and beautiful and amazing so never feel that you cant truly be who you are. Speak your truth and live an authentic life.

Sending you love and hugs. Tony T.
